Over the last couple of weeks I’ve had the pleasure of doing one of my favourite ‘jobs’ when creating wedding stationery and that is working on some bespoke hand drawn sketches to illustrate orders of my Perfect Place range of wedding stationery. http://knotsandkisses-co-uk.stackstaging.com/beta/product-category/all-collections/all-collections-perfect-place/ . To be honest it never really feels like a job as I enjoy it so much – and it was always my aim when I set up Knots & Kisses that I kept an element of hand drawing involved in some of my designs as it’s so important to me.
Perfect Place has always been one of my most popular ranges since I launched it as personalised venue sketch wedding invitations really appeal to lots of couples getting married who want to incorporate that personal touch into their wedding invitations.
They send me a selection of photos of their venue, or any other place they would like me to draw, and I sit down with my sketch pad, pencils and fine line pens, and usually a large mug of tea, and create a drawing based on the photos they have sent and then incorporate it into the stationery designs. I always find this process so relaxing – and especially love drawing buildings and beautiful architecture … which is pretty funny as my other half is an architectural technician and this is really his job! I’m sure he would probably find that the scales and perspectives aren’t 100% accurate on my drawings but it’s the ‘essence’ of the place and its surroundings that is more important to me to capture.
Once the drawing has been done I can use this in all manor of ways to incorporate into your wedding stationery. The Perfect Place range has a gorgeous modern typography and font to contrast with the hand drawn elements – with your initials incorporated in a little monogram on the front and inside. Information cards and an rsvp postcard can also be included in a little pocket on the inside of the invitation and I can even include matching pre-addressed envelopes and liners. Of course a full range of matching reception stationery is also available.
