I love designing stationery for photo shoots for magazines. It often allows me to get really creative … and the Modern Rustic brief that the team at Blue Fizz set me in December was no exception!

I love getting design briefs from the Blue Fizz girls as they are always so different and really push creativity – and the shoots, which often appear in Devon or Cornwall’s Wed magazine are always super stylish, and so glossy and different to a lot of photo shoots in other magazines. They really give realistic and achievable styling ideas for real weddings.

So the modern rustic shoot was shot at the stunning Upton Barn wedding venue near Cullompton in Devon http://www.uptonbarn.com/ . When you think of barn weddings this is definitely not your standard haybales and beams type of venue – the stunning structure and glass doors definitely give it a more contemporary feel – hence the modern rustic brief.

The styling interwove elements of copper, brown kraft and lots of beautiful flowers and foliage with a bit of sparkle to give a really beautiful ‘still life’ feel. The feel of the day was definitely autumn / winter but I can see the copper elements working just as well at any time of year.

The stationery I designed was modern and graphic in black and white – but with a rustic touch with brown kraft envelopes and placecard tags.
