As many of you know we moved into our new house in Torquay at the end of April. The house is a total renovation project .. something me and my fiance Ant have been itching to get our hands on since we first met … and I wanted to document our the house renovations process on the blog. I’m massively into interior design and old houses so hopefully some of you will be too!

The house is a six bedroom town house not far from the seafront and Torre Abbey in Torquay. Many many people have wondered why the heck we need a six bedroom house when there is just the two of us and we don’t plan on having children, but for us its gives the opportunity to convert the whole of the basement floor into a studio space for Knots & Kisses and also have a large loft office space for Ant who is an Architectural Technologist and also works from home once a week. It also gives us plenty of guest rooms to house all our friends and family who often pop down from London and Birmingham to visit Devon … can’t think why!

As I said the house renovations are pretty extensive and we are doing virtually all the work ourselves so it’s going to be a long process with a lot of hard graft but I think the end results are going to be amazing. So here are some before photos to show you where we’re starting from!

One of the first things we’ve done is create an exposed brick wall in the lounge. Obviously it needs cleaning up a lot, but I think when its finished its going to look amazing against the dark navy we are going to paint all the other walls in the lounge diner and will be a great backdrop for our brown leather sofa and antique union jack flag.

With planning a wedding as well … I know we’re mad! … we’re prioritising getting the lounge / diner and a couple of the bedrooms sorted first and then we can do more major works on the kitchen and bathrooms after the wedding. Fortunately we were able to get the keys several weeks before we moved in so we’ve converted part of the basement already into a small area of Knots & Kisses studio space so I was able to move and carry on working straight away … a huge help when you’re in the middle of your busiest time of the year for orders! I’ve got a few bits and pieces to sort out but here’s a small snapshot of what the office space looks like currently. The aim being to keep it bright and light with a splash of colour.

My aim is to keep taking lots of photos as we’re doing the renovations so hopefully I’ll be able to share some finished rooms with you soon!
