Sometimes you get a brief from a client which really tests your design skills! When Nilani contacted me about a bespoke design for her wedding I knew it was not only going to be fun but a little bit challenging. Her theme was English Garden meets Hindu Wedding. I’ve worked on several multi-cultural weddings in the past, so fortunately creating a wedding invitation suite with lots of different cards for different parts of a long weekend of celebrations was not something new. I loved working though to combine Nilani’s ideas of combining her love of ferns and foxgloves and pretty English wedding stationery with the traditions and patterns of Mehndi.

I kept the colours pretty with some gorgeous pale greys, mauves and pinks and worked a hindu style patterned border along with a floral motif for the main invitation, with a more Mehndi print motif as a header for the Hindu ceremony invitation.

I added rustic touches with the string and kraft envelopes to complete the look and also added a coordinating information card and tag to complete the look. I was so happy with the result as was Nilani and the almost 200 invitations looked incredibly pretty en-masse when I was packaging them up.
