One of the things I have most enjoyed over the last few years of designing wedding stationery for my clients is drawing and hand painting a venue map for their invitations.
It’s a great idea to include a little map in with your invitation packs. Day guest especially may be coming from further afield. They may not know the area that well and so need some guidance. Or the venue itself is spread over a wide area and a map of the internal areas would be helpful.
I create either simple line drawn maps up to fully bespoke hand painted maps in colour to match in with your invitations, and I’m happy to add this service to any of my standard collections … just drop me an email to [email protected]
Here are just a few samples of the type of venue map I can create for you.
This first photo is from a fantastic styled shoot which I hand drew a map for for them to use as part of a wider stationery and styling set up by the super talented fellow stationer Wonderland Invites. This venue map includes small bespoke illustrations of places of interest in and around the local area as well as the venue itself so has lots of detail and is decorated with illustrated olive branches for a slightly Mediterranean feel.

I’ve also produced smaller bespoke maps as part of a bespoke invitation suite for many of my clients.
This is a more modern map for a wedding in Kew Gardens …
This is one I hand drew for a ‘apple orchard wedding’ in devon earlier this year for the lovely Holly & Joe.

Today I wanted to share some more photos I have taken recently of bespoke work. Last year I worked on Claire & Daniel’s bespoke Provence wedding invitations. At the moment I’m working on some reception stationery designs for them so it was lovely to revisit the design. I drew a sketch of their beautiful Provence wedding venue and then incorporated that into their stationery. Adding an olive branch and rose design to create the perfect Provence wedding invitations.
Their invitations came in both English and French versions. I’m always more than happy to do this for client’s. I’ve done lots of invitation suites in the past in various different languages. As long as client’s can send me over the wording in their chosen language. I can then use it to produce proofs in as many languages as they want. I obviously can’t read all these languages so the proofing process becomes even more important! In the past I’ve done invitations in South African, Italian, French, German and Polish for clients.
We’re working on some really pretty reception stationery for Claire & Daniel’s wedding so I hope to share that with you soon.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me, either via the contact form on this website, or by email to [email protected] if you would like a bespoke design. Or if you are interested in having your invitations printed in various languages.
