I do love an good bespoke brief from a client! So when Sophie & Ross got in touch last year wanting a vintage travel wedding invitation I was very excited! I do have a vintage travel themed range of stationery but it wasn’t quite what they were after. So they purchased one of my bespoke fees and we had a consultation over the phone to discuss their requirements.
They really wanted to include a gate-fold style of invitation so I designed a vintage travel themed gate-fold. The background had a vintage aged paper feel and was kept together by a simple belly band with a stamp mark and their names. Although they wanted a vintage feel they also didn’t want it to be too old fashioned and fussy so a clean belly band definitely made it more modern.
The next big thing was to incorporate not only one of their favourite photos but also to create an RSVP card in with the theme which allowed their guests to see a menu and return their menu choices. I designed a lovely little round corned folded booklet with their photo aged slightly on the front. Inside were the menu options and tick boxes for the guests. The tick box section was then perforated so it could be torn off, and on the reverse it was pre-addressed to Sophie & Ross so it could be posted back to them with a yes / no as well as the menu choices. I was so pleased with the design I can’t wait to do something similar again in the future!
The invitation itself sat inside a pocket inside the gate-fold and was in the form of a punched train ticket. There was then also a telegram style information card and a little luggage tag with the gift list details.
I absolutely loved designed Sophie & Ross’s travel wedding invitations. If you would like me to come up with something bespoke for your wedding please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the contact form or email me [email protected]
Two of my favourite things in life are Colour and Travel so when a couple of years ago I was thinking about how to combine these two loves into a range of wedding stationery I came up with my Tropical Travel wedding invitations. You can find these invitations in my ‘Brights Collection’ which is where I put all the stationery for those like me who want a shot of colour in their wedding! http://knotsandkisses-co-uk.stackstaging.com/beta/product-category/brights-collection/tropical-travel/
For these invitations I wanted to convey the exotic beaches and areas I had visited in Australia and South East Asia, the brightly coloured tropical flowers against the bright blue ocean and sky. I also wanted to convey my love of travel with colourful map prints and a fun luggage tag motif … this range was all about creating wedding invitations for not only those who were getting married abroad but were, like me, also a little bit travel obsessed – perhaps had met on a tropical island and were celebrating this in their wedding at home.
The Tropical Travel wedding invitations seemed to suit a more fun format so I used a square design with a little pocket inside for an information and rsvp card. I also created some map print envelope liners to echo the map print inside the invitations. On more than one occasion I have been asked by clients for a bespoke map to be used which shows where they are getting married or where they met and obviously I’m more than happy to add these little extra details in to make the stationery perfect for them.
As always with my stationery ranges Tropical Travel comes with a full range of matching reception stationery including placecards, table numbers and any number of other things that you can think of. I love to design extra bits and pieces for clients weddings that are personal to them – whether that be tags for their favours or signage for around the room.
I hope this pop of colour has brightened up your day a little and if you would like to order Tropical Travel for your wedding please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
One of my most popular ranges of wedding stationery is my Vintage Travel Wedding range. A set of cute postcards with airmail and stamp motifs, when we re-photographed the range for the website relaunch I thought it would be really lovely to use some old photos and calligraphy pens to create a really beautiful vintage look for the range – and I think the photographs that Clare Kinchin took against a rustic wooden background worked out just beautifully. The black and white photo is actually of my Granddad which my my Mum gave me recently which I thought gave it a really nice personal touch.
As part of my ranges I love to create a wedding inspiration moodboard to help clients style their wedding to match their stationery. For Vintage Travel its all about stacks of old suitcases, more Mediterranean style foliage rather than flowers and lots of forties style fashion and birdcage veils. I also love the idea of your guests signing a vintage globe as your guest book.
